He decided to step up
This photo is from the first day I first heard the passion in Roque’s voice for the things he cares about. In a room full of other resident homeowners, he spoke about the importance of taking action in HOA affairs and decisions. He told everyone there was nothing to fear, even though fixing the issues with the HOA wouldn’t be easy. But he also said it wasn’t impossible.
Before this, his son, Jonathan, had been leading the way at HOA meetings. Seeing Jonathan’s energy and determination sparked something in him. Motivated by his son, Roque decided to step up and run for the HOA board - and with the help of Unidos and dozens of his neighbors, he won!
When I talked to him this past weekend, I could tell something had shifted. He has this newfound sense of power and determination when it comes to advocating for what’s right. His excitement is contagious—you can see it in the way his eyes sparkle when he talks about everything he knows he can accomplish now.
I am so proud of Roque!
