  • Día Del Niño commemorates a Human Rights Treaty

Día Del Niño is celebrated around the world, and in Mexico it is celebrated on April 30th. But what does it celebrate? The very first international treaty on human rights.

The very first Declaration of the Rights of the Child was written in 1924. The League of Nations adopted the declaration in Geneva that year.

  • Even young children can learn about their rights.

Share this video with your preschooler! Studies have shown that children who know their rights are less likely to see them violated. Children have a right to be treated fairly, a right to their own body, a right to be free from abuse, and many more.

  • The Rights of the Child

At Dia Del Niño, each booth will help your child learn one of the articles in the treaty’s text. Read more here:

  • Volunteer at Día Del Niño

A great event requires great volunteers! We’ll need volunteers before, during and after the event. Volunteers must be 6th grade and up.

  • Sponsor a Game at Día Del Niño

This is a collaborative event. There is no event underwriter, and it’s not a fundraiser. It’s like a potluck - the more people join in the fun, the more fun there will be. You can sponsor a large game like a climbing wall, a small bounce house, or donate an item/giftcard to the raffle.

  • Host a Booth at Día Del Niño

This event is a cross between a community festival and a resource fair. With dozens of organizations, churches and agencies as booth hosts, the event provides many fun activities and many useful resources! Each booth helps tell the story of the International Declaration on the Rights of the Child.
