A time of connection

This summer, one of the community service activities we did with our youth was a visit to a local senior living center. 
Each teen was matched with a table of seniors, guiding them through an art activity. At first, the room was filled with silence and awkwardness, but the teens pushed through, gradually finding ways to connect with the seniors despite the challenges.
Our teens are usually full of energy, but this day they slowed down and connected with the seniors. They listened to the seniors' stories and shared their own.

It may have started as an art class, but it became a time of connection.
