We rarely witness mountains moving
I didn't realize mountains moved until recently—not because it doesn't happen, but because it happens slowly and from the bottom up.
Yesterday, I drove through the neighborhood and saw my neighbors going door to door, encouraging their neighbors to vote in the upcoming HOA elections. It’s part of a larger resident-led movement for representational leadership. This year, for the first time, resident homeowners in our neighborhood built a movement to get involved in their HOA, run for the Board (currently led by landlords) and make their voices heard, so that the most important issues in the neighborhood are the most important issues to the HOA. Volunteer residents knocked on doors, coordinated community forums, hand-addressed envelopes and made phone calls.
Yesterday, when I saw my neighbors knocking on doors, I was able to witness a mountain being moved, just a little, but enough to make a difference.
