9 Lucky Individuals

 Last Thursday we organized a community forum for people interested in applying for an apartment in our city's new affordable housing complex. In addition to Permanent Supportive Housing for veterans and others experiencing chronic homelessness, there will also be 9 units available for working individuals at the income level of many of our neighbors. The lucky nine individuals will be able to rent a one bedroom apartment while paying only one third of their income on rent.

In anticipation of an opportunity like this for our community, our resident leaders advocated in 2021 for a change to a city policy, and because of this advocacy, the city now requires affordable housing developers to prioritize applicants who already live or work here in San Juan Capistrano. So we can be assured that these nine units will benefit our own community!

Many thanks to Jamboree Housing Corporation y Quest Management Group for leading the forum, to the City of San Juan Capistrano for loaning us the space, and to the many resident leaders who work hard to connect their neighbors to the resources they need.
